Microloans are short term small loans made to the people who don't have the access to large banks. This is a way to create entrepreneurs among poor and to help them to strengthen business of their own. There are several kinds of microloans system in developing countries; most of them are targeted to alleviating poverty. Though the concept first gained momentum in the developing world, the benefit of microloans soon realized in USA and it started to help making small business .

The first major micro lender in United States was ACCION USA. Microloan USA specially stands for ACCION USA which is basically a nonprofit organization. It came forward providing microloans to small business entrepreneur loaned about $210 million to more than 20,000 small entrepreneurs.

It is true that due to the global economic breakdown, much downturn of the economy caused in developed countries like USA and resulted a little collapse in microloan program. Even the loans are small, but they are quite enough to resolute temporary cash flow issues and also to consolidate small business start ups.

Kiva microfund is an institution which offers online money lending facility with an objective of alleviating poverty form the society. Kiva, a non- profit organization based at San Francisco is the first online service providing person-to-person micro-lending service.

When one browses an entrepreneurs' profiles on this site and is ready to provide a loan, then literally he are helping someone who is making real strides towards getting economic freedom and development. During the Kiva loan period (usually 6-12 months) one can enjoy receiving email journal updates and track repayments. Kiva generally works with Field Partners who are the local qualified entrepreneurs.

Kiva collects the loan amount from individual lenders and transfers it to the appropriate field partners. As soon as the entrepreneues repay their loans, the field partners remit funds back to Kiva. When the lender gets his amount back he can easily lend the same amount to some other entrepreneur and thus the cycle continues.

The increasing popularity of Kiva micro credit lies in the fact that its field partners are claimed to provide much better rates than local alternatives.

Microloans, as the name signifies, is a loan of relatively small amount disbursed from Microfinance institutions to develop or to expand the informal business by "entrepreneurial poor".

The unique concept of disbursing small amount of loan as low as $100 accelerates to increase the profit of the borrowers. This concept is instrumental as it helps people to overcome their state of extreme poverty and also helps them to fight against the hardships of life . The disbursement of microloan was first denoted by Recife, Brazil, by an ACCION led nonprofit, in the year 1973.

Today, microloan repayment rates for ACCION's partners worldwide gains an average of 97 percent. The process of borrowing loans are different from the loan disbursement system of traditional banks. Here institutions measure the business willingness of micro entrepreneurs and their ability to repay loans. Microloans are specially targeted to help the poor to live by self employment.

The poor can feed their families, can start selling fruits in local market, weave clothes and can open small bakeries. Now, borrowers are paying their first small loans and going to borrow for larger amount of loans, that clearly vindicates the success of the Microloans program.
